Spending more time at home, in the past year and this one too gives me a reason to lay greater emphasis on what is essential at home and what can be done without. Talking to a lot of clients I realized that comfort is the most important requirement. I like to understand what my clients want and while designing, give greater relevance to their desires over anything else.
What are the preferences?
Traditions were found to be a preferred choice. People were keen on returning to overstuffed, upholstered sofas in lighter shades, with softer curves. The décor they asked for was mostly minimalistic. The preference was on knotty wood surfaces to keep the traditional air of sophistication intact. The natural choice was lighter wood for a comfortable look.
Colors that cure the heart and mind
As far as wall colors are concerned, there was a mixed feed. Some loved bold colors, while many others preferred light shades. I decided to go with personal preferences, which what I mostly do. However, when my clients have their ideas I love to discuss why they have the preference for them. I also like to add some practical advice, as, being an expert; I understand what will hold in the long run. Therefore bedroom colors should be kept very pleasant and can be matched with very faint bold shades to cause the least sleep disturbance.
Creating large room spaces
The room space was given greater importance. Where there is a lot of room space, the furniture was kept in cozy confinement and the floor space was left free to create the feeling of volume. With the addition of greenery and large windows, the feeling of comfort was well recreated.
